I had booked in advance a table. After being seated and our drinks were brought to us - I noticed that the drinks stayed a bit far too long on the counter, one of them a crémant flute... - the maître d'hôtel asked us if we could move to another table (ailleurs) as he needed our table... I asked for the bill to be brought as I did not like his attitude/request. I had to ask for it twice and we felt hostages in the restaurant, until I managed to get the bill from another member of the staff. The maître d'hôtel couldn't understand, and most importantly, refused to respect our wish to leave, insisting that we stay. I hope he has learnt something from this experience - but I doubt it. Not offering the drinks after visibly displeasing 2 customers (and potentially many more as we will spread the word) is also revealing of what moves these businesses. We will certainly never return.
